I have a 2012 Nissan Cube with 275K miles. Although I’m not looking to sell it I entered my vehicles information in one of those site advertised to buy your vehicle based on the vin number and by answering a few questions: Mileage, is it running, that is pretty much it. I received a quote today for $150.00. I take very good care of my car. Take it in for service when it needs it, etc. It is a good car and has never broken down on me. I’ve replaced all the usual parts that go with a car with that many miles on it (pre Covid-19 my daily commute was 100+ miles roundtrip).

Got me thinking about how much a car in good condition is actually worth regardless of the mileage. I came up with the figure of $3,000.00. I know what the Kelly Bluebook says, but I cannot come close to buying anything as good as my current vehicle for less than that.

Regardless, $150.00? Fact is, I don’t want to sell it or need to sell it. I plan on driving it until the cost of repair is more than what I am willing to put down on a new used vehicle. But $150? I still cannot get over this offer. I spent $150 on groceries last week. With my new work situation (working from home) I think my car will last me another two years at least. I think this company (an others I would guess) need to add a few more factors to their valuation algorithm.
